The One and Only No-Nonsense Guide to Listing!   Page 1
First of all, let's understand each other. I'm not offering advise of any kind in any way.
The following is only a simple guide on how to list an item on eBay.
E. & O.E.
It's not complete by any means. I am only trying to explain some of the more misunderstood parts of the listing process.
I will welcome all your questions and comments.
 jerry9671111@hotmail.com

First, I am assuming you have prepared an excellent description and a great title,
plus a sketch of what your listing should look like.
Naturally you also have a nice clear picture of your item(s) for sale. Right?

Well then, the hardest part is out of the way. The rest is simple and straightforward.
By the way, nothing will happen until you click on that "List my item" button, and you'll get to see just how much the listing will cost before you decide to list your item.

So, let's get going! Time's awasting!

1.
After you've signed-in to My eBay just click on "Sell"
Never mind the silly drop-down menu. It leads nowhere you want to go. Not now, nor in the near future.
Many drop-down menus are eBay's way of wasting your computer's resources.

 2. Enter the 3-5 words about your item to list your item for sale.  e.g. "lovely priceless treasures for sale".
Click on "Start Selling"
Don't worry, nothing bad will happen. You'll have to select a category first .
 3. Now you can select a category from the "suggested categories".
But if you don't see it there, then click on "Select a suitable category".

 4. TAADAA!!!  Here you have the whole array of categories to choose from.
Find one that comes as close as possible to what you think the category your treasure will fit in.
After you have chosen wisely, see that you have selected only one category.
Selecting a second category will cost you extra.
But, don't let me cramp your style. If you think a second category will help, go for it!  It's your money.
Now click on "Continue"

 5. Here you really start to "Create your listing"
 6. First "Choose a currency" Select CDN or US dollars.
If you want to sell in Canada only, CDN dollars is the best choice, naturally.
For the purpose of this guide we select US dollars as our listing currency.

 7. Next, you get to "Help buyers find your item with a great title."
YES!
You have 55 characters available for a great title. Use them wisely.
Think of it this way:
'As a buyer, which 'key' words would I use to search for these unique treasures?'

Titles are meant to contain searchable 'keywords'.
Don't get hanged-up on grammar, but watch your spelling. Many a great item went for a song because the important keywords were misspelled.

 8. Then, from the drop-down menus select which extra pro-forma information, best describes your item.
 9. Now "Bring your item to life with pictures"
Yes! You betcha!  Here you get to upload that
nice clear picture of your item(s) for sale. Remember?
The first picture is free, and it will show in Gallery,
but obviously you'll get soaked for any extra pictures.

10. Now "Describe the item you're selling"
There are 2 ways of doing it:  Standard or (yikes!) HTML

The Standard mode is probably the default. Else, please click on the Standard tab.
As you start describing your treasure, keep in mind 'what you see, is exactly what your Buyers will see'

Same as on any word processor, you can do some formatting here. Select font style, font size, font color, and underlining, and italicizing. You can also add a bulleted list, center the text, and check your spelling.
Previewing the listing when finished, might not be a bad idea.

Since you have your sketch handy, all this should be a breeze! Right?
RIGHT?!
Also remember that a Return or 'Enter' equals a Paragraph or double-linespace, while Shift+Return or 'Shift+Enter' equals a Line BReak or single-linespace.

11. Now a minor point. You can select your Visitor Counter style, but only if you like to have one.
... and now the fun starts!
